Munich International Short Film Festival
The Munich International Short Film Festival throws emerging talent into the spotlight
June 17 to 23, 2010
Short-film buffs have a good excuse to visit Munich in June.
Non-German language films under 15min spanning documentary, fiction, animation and experimentation are shown.
Anything goes
 |
EXPERIMENTAL: A scene from Dorte Wøgh's short film The Pig. |
There’s a focus on learning and experimentation in film and there are workshops and “master classes” to accompany the screenings.
The festival website charmingly claims “everything which is not forbidden is allowed”.
Danish director Dorte Wøgh won the 2009 competition with a flick titled
“ The Pig”.
The plot followed a lonely old man in hospital adopting a picture of a pig as his guardian angel, bringing him into conflict and discussion with the guy in the next bed – a Pakistani Muslim.
Festival organisers are offering free accommodation in Munich to film-making participants.
Submissions are open from around the world and if the films aren’t in English they need to at least have English subtitles.
Submissions for 2010 close on February 28.
