Oktoberfest beer 2010
How much will an Oktoberfest beer 2010 cost?
And what's up with the "secret brew"?
Not even the bosses of the “big six” Munich breweries know how a secret “historic brew” concocted for this year’s Oktoberfest will taste.

Munich beer-makers Augustiner, Hacker-Pschorr, Hofbräu, Löwenbräu, Paulaner und Spaten have joined forces to bring the taste of the first Oktoberfest back to the festival tables.
Since the brew is still in development, it’s a mystery to all how the beer will actually taste.
Project leader and Spaten-Löwenbräu brewer Jörg Lehmann said the recipes came from 1810.
“We’re brewing beer like they did 200 years ago, but with today’s hygiene standards.”
Mr Lehmann said the beer would be just as strong, but darker, than other Oktoberfest beers.
Munich Breweries Association chairman Andreas Steinfatt said the only place punters could try the secret brew would be the tent at the “historic Wiesn”.
“We’re looking forward to a unique Wiesn beer that’ll only be available this year and only in the tent at the “Historic Wiesn”.
"There won’t be a single litre available in shops.”
And how much?
Beer wenches dressed in authentically old-school Dirndl dresses will splash the stuff out in authentic ceramic Steins for €8.60 to €8.80 a pop.
Oktoberfest punters will fork out more than ever before for a litre of liquid gold. A one-litre Maβ will cost from €8.70 to €8.90 depending on the tent you’re in, which means you’d better give the beer wench at least a tener if you want to see her again.
The outlier is the Weiβbier (wheat beer) in the Weinzelt (Wein tent), where a litre will set you back a ridiculous €13.80! Best stick to the vino if you’re heading there.
The Oktoberfest tent proprietors tend to put up the price of a Maβ a little each year, like death and taxes, it’s unavoidable.
