Got much spare change in your pocket? You may need it for this year’s Oktoberfest.

Organisers have announced a modest 3.6 per cent jump in beer prices at Oktoberfest from 2008 to 209.

A Maß (one-litre glass of beer) will cost between €8.50 and €8.60 at this year’s fest, about 30c more than last year.

That equals about $12.05 American, $14.85 Australian and 411.13 Thai Baht.

  Lucky the beer’s so strong most people only need a couple of Maß before they’re well and truly sloshed. Also keep in mind that the locals usually pay between €6.50 and €8.20 for a Maß outside Oktoberfest anyway.

Drivers and teetotallers aren’t escaping a slight price increase either. A litre of table water at this year’s fest is up 6c to €6.63, a litre of lemonade will cost €7.17 and a litre of Spezi (a cola-orange mix popular in these parts) will cost €7.76.
